VIRAL BOSONG RICECAKES: A MUST-TRY OR OVERHYPED?

Finally got my hands on the viral Bosong rice cakes from Beauty World, and here’s my honest review! (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑) I arrived at 3pm (they usually sell out by 2-3pm), I queued for about 30mins? Limited options were left (2nd Pic), I wasn’t keen on the rest so I bought these: honey baek seol ki, injeolmi, and mujigae dduk. 𓎦 Each box is $5, and here’s what I thought:

✿ Injeolmi: 10/10

Hands down, my favorite! ᡣ𐭩ྀིྀི If you love chewy, nutty flavors, this one’s for you. Coated with powdered roasted soybean flour, it has a deep, earthy flavor that pairs perfectly with the chewy rice cake. The texture was just right—not too sticky but satisfying enough to sink your teeth into. It’s comforting and delicious, ideal for those who enjoy traditional flavors.

✿ Honey Baek Seol Ki: 9/10

This one really surprised me! It’s super soft and fluffy with a subtle sweetness that comes from the brown sugar. The texture is smooth and almost melts in your mouth, which makes it perfect for those who love lighter desserts. It’s not too rich, so you can definitely finish a box easily without feeling heavy.

✿ Mujigae Dduk: 6/10

The most visually appealing one of the bunch, with its beautiful rainbow layers. Each color has a different flavor: white (plain rice), purple (purple sweet potato), brown (cinnamon), and green (mugwort). While the flavors sound interesting, I found them quite mild, and the overall taste was a bit plain for me compared to the others. 🌈 If you enjoy subtle, not-too-sweet treats, you might appreciate this one, but it wasn’t my personal favorite
