trying a viral tiktok reco: MARKET BLUE 🇰🇷

idk about you, but MARKET BLUE has been all over my fyp for the past couple weeks, and i really wanted to try it! it looked authentic and the location seemed great for photos, but tiktok has disappointed me a few times so i definitely went in with a grain of salt. 😅

maybe because it’s still their “pre-launch”, they only open till 5pm so i went at 2pm on a sunday…

… and they were sold out of almost everything 😭😭 i wanted to try the bunsik but it was completely sold out, in fact i think i was the last table to be seated and others had to be turned away 🥲 definitely some oversight there in terms of inventory management.

(UPDATE: i just checked their google hours and apparently they now close even earlier at 3pm?! 😭)

without having much of a choice, i ordered the 2pax bbq pork set from Gogipan, (~$46) it came with a bunch of side dishes, two kimchi stews and two rice.

and i rate it a 4.5/5 ⭐️!

the bbq meat actually came cold, but when i asked the staff to reheat it, they were nice and apologetic, so no minus points for that. the meat had a strong bbq flavour, really well cooked, but the side dishes were arguably the star of the show. i couldn’t get enough of it! the kimchi stew had a strong, sour taste which i personally liked and it came with chunks of meat too! 😋 i only -0.5 because of the price, i thought it was slightly expensive (and this is after an opening promo too!) 🥲

they also gave us complimentary sugar fries (?) it was literally just fries coated with sugar, and i’m not ashamed to say that it was really good 🤣

market blue also has a ramyeon library area, a photo book, a mini mart situation and a storefront selling really aesthetic merch. they are on the pricier side (a tshirt goes for $59) so keep that in mind!

overall, i would definitely go back in the future and definitely go in the morning to avoid disappointment. 👍🏻
