My favourite cafe in Johor Bahru ✨

One of the best cafes I’ve been to in JB, this spacious, industrial-themed café prides itself on feeling good and we certainly felt that in their good food and excellent service. When we informed the staff that we were celebrating a birthday, they plated it beautifully with chocolate powder in the words “Happy Birthday” and came out with a whole crew to sing Happy Birthday for us.

The food we tried:

𝑴𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔

♡ Cashew Nut Chicken Pesto Pasta — A great blend of herbal and nutty flavours, this pasta in a secluded café was on par with the pasta restaurants in Singapore

♡ Carbonara — The standout dish to me was the Carbonara. The dish was topped with fragrant bacon, garlic, parsley, tied together with a creamy raw egg yolk and flavoured with a sharp cheese duo of parmesan and pecorino. It’s a must-order dish for me when I come back.

♡ Quesadilla — Impressive combination of tom yum scrambled eggs, ham, tomatoes, cheese and house-made sriracha aioli

♡ Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Bagel — I love how they used green onion cream cheese in this bagel where the wonderful aroma from the green onion complemented the savoury smoked salmon very well. The bagels embodied a substantial chew without being overly tough too.

♡ Kampung Eggs Anyway — Creamy scrambled eggs served with sourdough bread. They added a drizzle of pesto oil on the toast which perfumed the bread, giving it a herby flavour which I enjoyed.

♡ Sweet potato fries — Crispy outer crust paired with a soft inside and an oh so gentle sweet potato fragrance, this one was really good

♡ Matcha cinnamon bun

♡ Dark choc cinnamon bun

♡ Biscoff cinnamon bun

♡ Brownie

The food was so good that we got a box of desserts to enjoy later on and they blew our minds. Everything was brilliantly executed and I couldn’t pick a favourite.

Unfortunately, the drinks were an utter letdown and I’d suggest you give them a pass.
