Things I Wish I Knew Before I Went To KL

Hey loves, I just came back from my trip to KL this week and here are a few things I wish I knew before I went to KL!

1) Pre-Order your SIM Card online

gone are the days where we'd be scrambling around outside the gates trying to get a SIM card. I ordered two SIM cards for my friends from klook and it was really affordable - only SGD $7 for 5 days worth of unlimited data and calls are included too!

2) Airport transfer via Grab is not that expensive

before the trip, I was researching on the cheapest and fastest way to get into the city area from the airport and a lot of people suggested using grab! we travelled in a group of 4 and ordered a 6-seater cab for about 100rm which works out to be SGD $7.50/ pax. It definitely adds up if you are traveling in a smaller group!

3) I used Grabpay throughout

I was reluctant to exchange money because the rates were not very favourable, from what I have seen in KL, the money changers were offering 2.9~3.1 only. I used my grab card to pay for cab rides and for cafes and the rates were not too bad, 3.18~3.19 on average and there's no processing fee!

4) Prices are slightly more expensive

The cafe prices in KL is definitely more steep than the ones in JB. In JB, you could get away with a plate of pasta below 30rm but the prices in KL are usually 30rm or more. It is still cheaper compared to Singapore but good to manage your spending expectations! Grab prices are slightly more expensive too!

5) Traffic jams are a whole new level

omg the traffic jams are no joke guys... please factor in more traveling time and book your grabs earlier! sometimes the drivers are stuck in traffic and the car doesn't move at all!

6) Airport Departure

the airport was a chaotic mess so i'd suggest you to go in way earlier! Everyone was clueless on what to do and no one is there to help much. The immigration clearance took awhile too and a lot of people had to ask to jump queue if not they would miss their flights!

7) Mask On (if you can)

I got really sick and I must have caught a really bad virus while I was there. I was bedridden and had raging fever for 4 days straight and am left with a very bad dry cough 🥺
