guide to survive uni as a year 1 biz student 🤓

uni was a HUGE transition from poly 😭 safe to say that in the first month of the semester, i was nothing short of a 🦑 BLUR SOTONG 🦑 however, as days go by, i start to get more and more familiar with the school and the system! here’s some advice on how i got through my first semester in NUS as a business student 🤓

🍋 BE COMFORTABLE BEING ALONE

from my own experience in uni, i was alone most of the time! sure, i may have friends from classes to classes but they’re just hi bye type of friends 👯‍♂️ i used to totally NOT be okay with being alone but as i grow older, i came to realise that it’s not that bad! at the end of the day we’ll always have our own backs. i had many mouse moments in school, and i was totally fine with it! if you’re trying to overcome the fear of being by yourself, you can try listening to music or watch shows while eating ‼️ and honestly, no one will judge you for being alone <3

🍋 HAVING A PEER SUPPORT SYSTEM

surely being alone is great, but make sure that you have at least a small circle of friends that will be there for you! peers that you can reach out to and ask questions 🫶🏼 if you need someone to talk to, please feel free to reach out to me ♥️

🍋 PLANNING MY WEEK

this is something that i’ve recently started doing and i find it to be super effective. it allows me to stay organized and keep track of the tasks i have to complete!

🍋 KEEPING TRACK OF DEADLINES

with so many assignments, you may get lost in the sauce! it’s always important to keep track of your deadlines right from the start of the semester so that you won’t miss it. i simply use google docs to keep track of my deadlines and check it once it’s submitted!

🍋 TRACK YOUR EXPENSES

🙋🏻‍♀️ broke college student things <\3 it’s so easy to lose sight of your money going out when you’re just swiping your card left and right 💸 hence, it’s super important to track your expenses! this is honestly not easy and it takes a lot of discipline to do so 💪🏻 when you start to track your expenses, you really get to see what you’re spending on and if it’s unnecessary, cut it down next time!
