Foreign Conversion of Driving License 🇲🇾-🇸🇬

I have been holding my Malaysia driving license since 2018. And since I got my PR last year, I’ve also started applying for my driving license conversion. I did alot of research on how to get it done, and let me share with you the easiest, and fuss-free way to get it done!

First, you have to pass your BTT test. I got mine done at Bukit Batok Driving License. It is a bit tricky here. On their website, there is the ‘Foreign Driving License Conversion Course’ which includes enrolment fee for a year + theory lesson + theory practice + evaluation and the monthly membership renewal fee, and it costs about $78.70. However, if you want the self study version, means only the membership fee plus the BTT test, it only cost about $12, but unfortunately you can only choose this by going to their centre and open the account. Remember to make an online appointment here, before heading down. On the appointment day, remember to bring your ID card as well as your driving license. Just go to the counter and tell them you want to book a BTT test for your license conversion.

After booking your test, you got to start studying. I never study much for it like honestly, but i know you can get second hand books to study from platforms like Carousell or maybe ask around your social circles, I’m pretty sure someone should have it. All I did was going on google and search for those BTT Questions and do it on my way to work for a few days. And I got 49/50!

On the exam day, remember to be on time, and bring along your ID. You will be seated in a room full of computer with all the ‘students’. You just have to read through the questions carefully, some might have videos in it, and choose the answers. Once you’re done, the screen will show your marks to you, and tells you if you have passed the test. Then, you just have to raise your hand and walk out of the room. Before leaving the room, they will pass you the pink form for you to fill up and bring to the Traffic Police Headquarters at Ubi, TP Headquarters then you can queue for the conversion or you can do it online!

I opted to apply via the online form because I am too lazy to go down and queue. It takes about 14 days for them to get back to you and provide you a slot. On the appointment day, just bring all the true copy of all the documents you’ve submitted to the TP Headquarters and pay $50 and you get your temporary driving license strip. The card will be mailed to your house within one week.

Important‼️

1. I have attached the documents list that you need to bring along to Ubi for the conversion in the last photo.

2. For my fellow Malaysians, you’ll need to go to the JPJ centre and ask for the previous record, let them know you are converting your license and they will process according, they charged you at RM10 for one. Some people say it will expired within a month once you get the paper but i got mine in June and only get to submit it to TP by Oct, so i guess it is luck? HAHAHA but to be safe, just go and get it after you passed or you already have your BTT date, just in case, so you wont need to waste another trip down just to get a new report.

3. Ubi only accepts payment via cash card or nets.
