Caribbean on a budget

We traveled to one of the more expensive islands in the Caribbean for a total cost of $5,500 for 7 nights including excursions, food, shopping etc. (No all inclusives for us)

•Most resorts were around $1,000+ per night. We ended up staying in 2 airbnbs, and 1 small hotel on the beach. Our first air bnb was a cute little studio in the locals area for $70/night! (This is the area where they have the big Friday night street party!)

As long as there are plenty of good reviews we find we can sometimes score way better deals on air bnb opposed to the resorts. (Our last air bnb had the most insane infinity pool overlooking the Pitons).

•Since every beach is public, you can experience the resorts without having to stay there. You can lay out on their beaches, eat at their restaurants (unless it's exclusively an all inclusive resort) and we felt this was a great way to visit some of the nicest resorts on a budget.

•Most of the excursions you will find online ie. Trip advisor are way more expensive than they have to be (unless you need the transportation and guide, and of course it's great to support the locals) but for example, on trip advisor there was a price tag of

$150/person to visit the sulfur baths and volcano. We drove ourselves there and it was $30/person.

We highly recommend renting a car! You can have such a more intimate experience exploring the island.

•Do your research and compare costs! We would highly recommend visiting St. Lucia and have docs available to share with links, costs, info and much more!
