Today I want to talk about self love and why I chose to do my 16:8 intermittent fasting
Before that let me tell you a bit of my background
• I am 41 years old
• A mom to 3 kids
• Don’t really have a healthy lifestyle in terms of exercising and healthy eating
• My day started as early as 5am and end at 10pm
• My pre-pregnancy weight 15 years ago was 40kg
What makes me determined to do intermittent fasting (IF)?
• Last year, my scale shocked me with 63kg while I am only 153cm and that’s make my BMI 26.9 (overweight) and lots of my favorite outfit won’t fit me anymore
• I admit at that time I really didn’t watch my food intake at all
• And no wonder my body feel very heavy and I don’t feel fit at all, so lethargic and get tired easing
So after doing my reading and YouTube watching, I started my intermittent fasting the next week
I choose 16:8 which my fasting started at 10pm and end at 2pm next day ; means my eating window is from 2pm to 10 pm daily
Surprisingly, my body is adapting well to the schedule and I keep on my fluid intake like plain water, non sugar coffee and green tea
Few things to note on my Intermittent Fasting
• I don’t want to get stress for not able to eat what I want or surpressing my appetite
• Thus, I chose to really watch my portion this time around
• I only had 1 proper meal during my eating window and I ate carbs + protein + greens in a very safe portion
• In between, I rarely eat anything else because I don’t feel like eating anything and if I really want I will just have few bites of maybe chocolate, bread or cookies and sometimes I do drink my favourite 3 in 1 Korean coffee
Anything else to help me with weight loss?
• I do take detox drink, but not in daily basis (only 2-3x a week) because I donate want my body to feel bad or excessive water loss
• I only take detox drink at night
• And green tea during the day time
When I started seeing results?
• With consistent fasting, I saw results after 2 weeks which I lose 3kg (which is huge for me because loosing weight was so hard for me)
• And my weight keep on going down steadily until the 3rd month where I completely shed 10kgs
Any difficulties during my intermittent fasting journey?
• The first 3 weeks was a bit challenging because I still had a very hard time to control my appetite and my brain kept telling me I am hungry and I didn’t get enough food
• But after that, everything went smoothly where I don’t get the crave especially for sugary food and my tummy felt just enough with what I ate on daily basis (mostly homecooked meals)
How about now?
• I don’t do my 16:8 fasting now but my weight are pretty the same (maybe +- 1.5 kg)
• Because I still control my food portions now and really watch my sugars intake
• And I make sure to walk 7,000-10,000 steps a day to keep my body active
• I can easily fit in size S or M now depends on the clothes as compared to previous which I will straight bought size XL and need to cut the length
Am I happy now?
Yes I am and feel more lighter and a bit healthier. Also self confidence
