Do You Save Your Avocado Pits? 🥑

I save whatever parts of my fruits / veggies that I can and repurpose them. Things like watermelon rind, onion peels, banana peels, papaya seeds, and avocado pits, give your body even more whole nutrients. It’s a two for one special; Food and Medicine.

The star of my post today is AVOCADOS.

I use them in SO many ways; Fresh Guac, Avo Mayo, Alkaline salad dressings, Nice Cream, the list on goes on. I keep the seeds/pits for even more uses.

They’re fiber rich & aid in digestion, boosts your immune system, fights free radicals, promotes healthy skin, supports heart health and so much more.

Once I remove the pits, I scrub them clean and let them dry for a week first. They should be stored in a cool, dark place. I usually store them in Tupperware and place it inside of a paper bag in the fridge.

After that, they’re ready to be repurposed in various ways. I’ll list some below:

🥑You can grind the dry pits into a powder and put 1-2 scoops on smoothies, broths, even your TEA. (Y’all know I love my herbal teas.)😭

🥑Art babes, this one’s for you🫶🏾 The skin of the pits can be used to make natural dye. When you boil them in water, they create this beautiful rose/pink color. If you’re dying fabric, for instance, just five pits will color a half-pound of fabric.

🥑You can grow a Avocado plant. This one is obvious but worth pointing out. With the direction agriculture is heading, learning how to garden and saving your organic seeds is IMPORTANT. Don’t rely on buying the seed packs from the store. Become your own reliable food source, one step at a time.
