I paid $70 to downgrade my SQ flight for Scoot

I decided to extend my stay in Aussie for a few more hours so I rescheduled my flight. However, the only flight that takes off at 8pm (and arrive in Singapore at an ungodly 3am) is a Scoot-operated flight that SQ shares with. I thought the few extra hours was worth it so I just went with it!

Cost

I didn’t have a flexible ticket but it was $70 (when compared to the $2000 tickets, it doesn’t seem that bad) which I thought was fair.

Inside the flight

The SQ flyers got priority boarding and were seated in the bigger seats, ScootPlus. You got your usual checked bags too! I got really lucky with the first row so I’ve got lots of leg room. You still get your in-flight meal which I hate to say, tastes better than SQ’s food lately ☹️ the food I had on my SQ flight was quite bad. You also get free 30mb of wifi which I didn’t use.

However, I was met with a problem which I only realised when the flight had taken off. There was no in-flight entertainment 😭😭😭 I had totally forgot about that so I didn’t download any movies to watch on my own device before flying. I ended up playing a retro game on Scoot’s website (you can access with the free wifi that only lets you browse their site) for 3 hours 😅

Review

After the flight, I got an email notifying me that I got an extra 2000 miles for flying Scoot so that was a nice perk. But still, if you ever consider downgrading your flight for the same price, I think it’s worth it only if you value the extra hours in the city or really need that departure time!
