UNDERRATED Graduation Shoot Locations 🎓📸

I’ve been seeing graduation clips floating around TikTok lately and felt like it’s time to share photos and places from my own graduation last year!

If you’ve been thinking of doing a grad photoshoot with your group of friends, DO IT! But not sure where to go other than the museum and Jurong Lake Gardens? I gotchu! 🤭

I, too wanted to have my own grad shoot but didn’t want to do it in a basic photo studio and to use the medium that I was passionate about — film 🎞️ That’s how I decided to shoot my grad photos outdoors instead!

I planned a FULL DAY literary for the shoot with the group of people that gave me the greatest support in the final year of school — my FYP groupmates.

Our route started from:

📍Changi Bay Point (East)

📍National Musuem (Central)

📍Yishun Dam (North)

I’ll just skip about the shoot at the museum because I’m sure everyone knows that place is one of the hot spots for shoots like these 😅 But a little note to take:

📝 If you want to take photos by the famous court stairs at the musuem, you MUST email to book/make a reservation. Me and my friends got caught by security only to find out about this. And the booking it’s over $100+ btw 🤯 so….. either take it discreetly at your own risk or just shoot outside the stairs that faces Esplanade.

The 2️⃣ locations I feel that’s not largely recommended for grad shoots are Changi Bay Point and Yishun Dam.

🏝️ Changi Bay Point is great for a shoot that feels like you’re the only group of people that exists. I went on a weekend, late morning and it was low tide.

The moss all over the rocks were so pretty and we could go down to the shore to stand on them for photos!

Walking shots are fantastic at this area too as the pathways are empty, looking almost like we are at our own little island~~

It’s also a windy place so don’t worry about sweating loads in your gown!

🛣️ Yishun Dam is also another underrated spot in my opinion because you can choose whether you want a nature or city like shoot all in ONE PLACE!

There’s a lake just beside the highway which has little rocks similar to the ones at Changi Bay Point to stand on for wide shots. A little bridge is also at the lake for you to take some cute, playful shots too!

When it was blue hour 🌌 , we headed to the highway and played around with coloured lights my friend brought. The lights from the cars and street lamps definitely gave off a moody vibe which is something new!

I highly recommend you to bring some props like bubbles 🫧 and balloons 🎈 to capture some candid shots!

This grad shoot was honestly quite impromptu for me. There wasn’t much planning but me and my friends just went along with whatever we wanted on the spot. My friends who came down to standby with digital backups also helped a lot which was much appreciated 😇

If you still have your gown, please go for a shoot even it’s a solo one! You’ll definitely want to look back on this milestone in a few years time ✨
