What’s a full korea experience without going to their jjimjibang (sauna houses)!!🤓
I really enjoy their jjimjibangs and can spend a good half day there✨
Here are some facilities you can expect in most jjimjibangs:
-hot pools of varying temperatures
-cold pool
-sauna rooms with different temperatures and healing properties
-shower + locker facilities
-food and drinks kiosk
To start off your jjimjibang experience, go for a relaxing soak in the hot pools! You have to shower before that first as courtesy and for cleanliness purposes. Also note that all pool soaks have to be done naked haha they will not allow you to wear clothes/swimming costumes inside.
After a nice soak + shower, go to the food kiosk! Some MUST orders are the sikhye (rice drink), marinated eggs and ramyeons! I also recommend getting a misugaru (mixed grain drink)! It’s unique to korea and tastes quite nice and earthy!
Then, enjoy the saunas! I can nap in the mid temperature ones for super long haha it’s truly a healing experience🥹
In my previous seoul trips prior to covid, i went to a jjimjibang called siloam but i heard they have downgraded and alot of facilities are no longer available! So i went to a newer one called jamsil suyang sauna and i had a good experience there. It’s very new (opened within the past 2 years) so the facilities are still well maintained and clean.
