Recently, I went to Batam for a quick weekend getaway and I found it suuuper rejuvenating — value-for-money massages & cheap food! What more could I ask for?
⛴️🏝️🌊🧇🍜🍳🍗☕️🌅
📍Address: Shelter Coffee Harbourbay
— Conveniently located at the ferry terminal
— Rating: ☕️☕️☕️☕️/5
📍Address: Love Seafood Nagoya
— Recommended by a lot of locals, which is definitely a good sign!
— Value for money & delicious!
— Just found it a little sus that prices are not stated in the menu 🤨 But overall, still much cheaper than Singapore, so no complains!
— Rating: 🦀🦀🦀🦀/5
📍Address: Nagoya Hill Mall
— Food street with lotsa different kinds of food! From dimsum, bubble tea, fast food chains - to ayam penyet & other local cuisines!
— Only down side: there’s no AC in the food street, so there are a lot of people smoking in there 😅
— Rating: 🍲🍲🍲/5
📍Address: Roti'O Coffee
— If you catch a waft of coffee bread. LOOK FOR THIS STORE AND GET IT. Probably means it’s fresh outta the oven.
— Available in most malls
— Rating: 🍞🍞🍞🍞.5/5
📍Address: Sari Eco
— Murtabak Manis!!! One word: SHIOK.
— Okay not gonna lie, a bit jelak towards the end cos they use a heap load of margarine. My arteries felt like they were gonna clog 😂
— Rating: 🥞🥞🥞/5
📍Address: Nagoya Thamrin Food Market
— I had this spicy collagen soup thingy which was SO FREAKING SHIOK
— A little hard to order cos of the language barrier HAHA. Tbh I didn’t even know what I was ordering, it just looked SEDAP in the pic, so I pointed at it. And attempted to say “Satu bowl, less pedas” 🤣 It was still very PEDAS 🌶️🌶️ so I guess my Bahasa failed me. Suffered the next day 🚽 but every bit worth it.
— Rating: 🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜/5
📍Address: Daun Pisang Resto Grand Batam Mall
— Saw lots of locals inside, so I guess it’s a good sign ya?
— Soto betawi daging was super comforting, mie goreng was spicy af but damn shiok also (again, I tried telling her less pedas 🌶️😂 … on hindsight, maybe I’m saying it wrong, cos I sure as hell suffered from it 🚽)
— Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
📍Address: iMPRESSO Batam
— Super nice and vibey place near the “Welcome to Batam” monument. We wanted to be ~adventurous~ and shit and walk from the monument to the cafe. (Tip: don’t. It was dangerous af walking on the road. Grab is literally S$1 🫣)
— ☕️☕️☕️.5/5
📍Address: ASTON Nagoya City Hotel
— Complimentary buffet breakfast (for 2 pax) was 💯💯💯
— For $60/night, the buffet spread really surprised me. On top of the regular buffet spread (pastries, cereals, hot foods, juices, etc), they have staff mending an egg station, a waffle station, a nasi goreng station.
— Taste-wise: not the best, but still above average.
— Rating: 🍳🧇☕️🍚🍝/5 (max rating for its value & variety)
