Anyone else lose all willpower to stay on track with their healthy eating once the clock strikes midnight? If you saw my earlier post you know i'm a night owl and if you are like me, you like a little midnight snack! It’s important to not allow yourself to overeat right before bed because the body has a difficult time digesting when we are asleep. I only eat a midnight snack if I know I will be up for another 2 hours at least.
Another hack is to try drinking water or tea first since sometimes we confuse being thirsty with being hungry. This is why I always have a cup of tea at night to make sure I am still hydrated. Here are a few of my favorite snacks to eat while I am having late night munchies!
Fruit: Plums are in season and they are juicy and light so not too heavy on the stomach!
Popcorn: My favorite brand of popcorn is Boom Chicka Pop (~$4) Which is a kettle style corn but I also am a big fan of Lesser Evil Popcorn (~$4) which has a lot of great flavors like himalayan sea salt and is cooked with coconut oil which is a lot healthier than other oils!
Apples and Peanut Butter: This is when I’m feeling hungry and not just looking for a snack. When I have a light dinner or burn a lot of calories that day, this HITS!
