My 400 Sqft Brooklyn Apartment 🧺 Boho & Eclectic

I live in a converted loft-style apartment in Brooklyn and after seven years here, it’s become an eclectic mix of boho decor, vintage finds, eclectic art, musical instruments, and handmade pieces. If you like this aesthetic and want to add some charm and character to your space, here are my tips!

Thrift thrift thrift! This is by far the best way to find unique pieces at an affordable price. Check the housewares section of your local Goodwill, frequent flea markets, look for old magazines on ebay…the possibilities are endless.

Display family heirlooms. Did your granddad give you an old clock? Do you have a cool teapot that used to be your mom’s? Put these out where people can see them and instantly add lived-in charm to your space.

Frame original art. My boyfriend and my dad are both artists, so I’ve framed their drawings and displayed their sculptures around my home. If you’re lucky enough to have talented people in your life, put their work on display!

Plants are your friends. It took me a long time to figure out how to take care of plants, but with some trial and error, they’ve become my best friends. A little bit of green goes a long way in a small space and brightens up an otherwise very urban life.

Take on DIY projects. Even if you’re not very crafty (which truthfully, I am not) now and then try to take on a project that you think you can handle. I DIY’d the tile tables in slide 1 after watching a tutorial on youtube. It wasn’t the easiest thing I’ve ever done, but it was really rewarding and a much more affordable alternative.

Embrace clutter. Real boho living isn’t just pampas grass and macrame plant hangers. It’s all about showing character and telling a story by displaying your unique collectibles. Not everything needs to match perfectly or be neatly tucked away. A stack of books in the fireplace or a cluttered spice rack can share the soul of a home and make it feel alive.
