the most underrated things to do in seoul would be going to markets! here are the two markets i visited during my last trip to seoul:
unlike gwangjang market, this place is more popular with the locals and the food is relatively cheaper! i tried their famous kalguksu which was only 5000 won! would recommend you to try the other noodle dishes like jjangmyeon 🍜 i’ve also tried the smores ice cream (it’s cheaper than other places) and it’s quite cool that they torch the marshmallow in front of you~
other than food, expect to see traditional clothes and the famous K-halmoni flowery pants for only 5000 won each! i almost bought them because they were so soft and comfortable but i held back thinking that i could still get them elsewhere cheaper (which i didn’t and i really regret😭) you can also get some freshly made traditional chapssal teok (glutinous rice cakes) at an affordable price too!
📍Address & Nearest Station: Mangwon Station Exit 2
🌟Overall rating: 4.5/5
less can be said about this place as it’s already on everybody’s go-to list. netflix ahjumma’s kalguksu was still bussin as ever with long queues so try to go earlier if you can! try the gwabaeggi (sugar twisted donuts) on your way in/out as well as mungbean pancakes 😋 there’s also many yukhoe (beef tartare) places which you can try too! but one downside of gwangjang market would be the crowd during peak hours and it’s relatively more expensive since it’s a tourist market.
📍Address & Nearest Station: Jongno 5-ga Station (Line 1) or Euljiro 4-ga Station (Lines 2 and 5)
🌟Overall rating: 3/5
