Pay for EVERYTHING in Thailand with no problem!!

I used all 3 payment methods in both Bangkok and Chiang Mai so enjoy my tried and tested experiences hehe ✌🏻

1️⃣ CASH

Cash is still king in Thailand so I would still recommend that you have plenty of cash with you for your small purchases like buying snacks from 7/11 or at night markets.

And you’ll also need cash when tipping your masseuse or hotel staff!

2️⃣ PAYLAH

Did you know you can use PayLah to pay for your purchases in Thailand?

Just look out for a PromptPay QR code, scan it with your PayLah app and you can pay for your purchases.

When you scan the QR code, PayLah will display the exchange rate and show the conversion from baht to SGD for you.

Of course, the exchange rate may not necessarily be the best but I find that it was pretty decent (I paid S$4.76 for 120 baht for the photos with PayLah vs the market rate of S$4.62)

‼️ FYI, some places ONLY accept QR codes e.g. photo booths, so PayLah would be your life-saver in these cases haha

3️⃣ YOUTRIP

Instead of buying individual MRT tickets, use your Youtrip card instead!

And because it’s a Mastercard, you can easily use it to pay at restaurants or shops at bigger malls that accept card especially since Youtrip’s exchange rate is always pretty competitive against our own SG money changers.

Plus, it’s super convenient when you’re craving for supper but are too lazy to leave your hotel:

- Add your Youtrip card to your Grab account

- Snag some discounts with the Grab vouchers when you pay via card

- Easily choose the tip amt for your driver

Same process applies for your Grab rides where you can easily pay for Grab car or Grab bike without having to count out your cash one by one (even Grab tuktuk for Chiang Mai)! 😆
