5 things we do not own | living room edition 🛋️

Guests are usually surprised at the fact that our living room has no TV 😂

Here are 5 things we do not have in our living room:

1️⃣ 𝐑𝐮𝐠/ 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐭:

Although rugs and carpets can enhance the aesthetics of a living area by adding colour and texture to the space, they require regular maintenance and cleaning. In addition, rugs can also trap allergens. We decided to prioritise practicality as we have 2 human beings in the house who are very sensitive to dust 😂

2️⃣ 𝐂𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐧:

We do not have ceiling fans in our entire home. Mainly personal preferences, we dislike looking up and see something spinning on the ceiling, and also dislike the flickering lights that may potentially be caused by the fan spinning on top.

Our previous owners installed ceiling fan and track lights, and we find the look too cluttered as well.

3️⃣ 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧:

Although it serves as a great entertainment option, we do not watch TV and it will be very under utilised in the living room. Our alternative would be a projector that we may be getting soon ☺️

4️⃣ 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞:

As our living area is not very big, placing a coffee table would take up valuable floor space and make the area feel even more cramp. It also obstructs flow of foot traffic, and makes mopping and vacuuming of floor difficult as we need to go around the coffee table.

An alternative we are using is a C shape convertible table, which does not take up much floor space but yet functional as a multi-purpose piece of furniture 😌

5️⃣ 𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠:

Cove lighting is used to create a warm and inviting ambience in an area. It softens the overall lighting and can be used to set the mood. However, it is difficult to maintain and clean the ledges and recesses which often traps dust.

An alternative we use is 3 tone light to create different lighting ambience. A great addition would be lamps too!
