If you're into the miles game like me, owning or going to own a cosy nest along with a passion for globetrotting, and unsure how to begin on this miles journey โ hereโs probably where you can start. Playing the miles game require some effort at the start, but once youโve done your research and have familiarised with the perks of each card, youโll get to benefit greatly from it to fulfil your wanderlust dreams. Trust me, I was really intimidated at the start thinking of the number of miles card available in the market too.
Hereโs sharing some of my favourite mile cards to consider if youโre a homeowner, even better if youโre moving house soon as you can leverage on welcome bonuses with minimum spends on your big ticket purchases!

One of my favourite cards when I was shopping for my home. Leveraging on the $300 cashback promo and Taka members day rebate, I ultimately got my wine fridge at almost 50% off the original price! My favourite thing to do is heading to the Taka counter to exchange my rebates for vouchers ๐
Sign up promotion: Up to S$300 cashback
Up to 6% voucher rebates on your Takashimaya Spend
Additional 10% off during selected sale events
My advice: sit down together by yourself or with your partner to do some rough calculations on estimated expenses and where your $$ will be spent on. From there youโll be able to better strategise what card youโd need on who to sign up for which card. Some strategies I have personally used:
1๏ธโฃ Sign up for welcome bonuses and max out on those cards first by leveraging on your big ticket purchases and higher spending during this period to clock min. spends to be eligible for the bonus miles, as these bonus miles work out to be much better than earning 4mpd on your purchases. Once these are maxed out, Iโll then move on to the other 4mpd spending cards.
2๏ธโฃ Iโd make use of the DBS Taka card for attractive discounts on members day (additional 10% on existing discounts!) and spend just enough to qualify for sign up bonus and stop after. I would leave my last purchase on the card to fully exhaust the $300 cashback + 6% rebate (that comes in a few months later), and accumulate the rest of my expenses on the other cards to max out my miles.
Hope this helps!
