now that I find myself in the last year of my twenties [omg] there have been a handful of books that I’ve read and thought to myself — this would have been great to read in my early twenties 🫠
that being said here are five of those books [so you can read them!!!] and my thoughts on each one 💫
— everything I know about love
this is absolutely a book that I wish I could have read in my early 20s — it just made me feel so seen. from finding yourself to dating and friendships to realizing that no one around you really knows what they’re doing [this is important!!!] it truly captures what it’s like to be navigating that time of your life.
— ghosts
there’s a reason why dolly alderton is one of my favorite authors — her writing is just so relatable!!! though this is fiction it was such an accurate representation of dating in your 20s [including dating apps + getting ghosted], finding yourself, and moving on from someone who you’ve finally accepted is just not right for you.
— my body
I didn’t know what to expect going into this as I only knew emily ratajkowski from her social media — but dmy body was somehow one of the most relatable memoirs I’ve ever read. her reflections on relationships, body image, and internal + external validation were such a poignant reflection on the female experience.
— adelaide
if you’ve ever loved someone more than they loved you back — this book may feel familiar. it puts the feeling of giving everything but never being quite enough into words [from unanswered texts and calls to overthinking every interaction looking for validation] which hits so hard from the outside looking in. it navigates topics of love, loss, heartbreak, and mental health while also being a story of friendship, self-love, and growth in your 20s.
— out of love
this is truly unlike any romance book that I’ve read before in that it starts at the end - making each chapter as you watch their relationship fall apart even more bittersweet. it’s a love story but it’s not [their relationship is absolutely toxic] but it made me reflect on relationships and love from a new perspective that’s so important in your 20s.
have you read any of these books?
