my favorite places in maine! 🤍

i’ve grown up going to maine every single summer for my entire life so I know some of the best places to visit while you’re there - a lot local secrets! if you’re looking for specific suggestions feel free to shoot me a comment.

1. Early Bird Restaurant - this is a great local place with awesome breakfast and lunch. it’s inexpensive and yummy! the only thing is it’s only open certain days of the week so check the schedule and make sure you bring cash because it’s cash only!

2. Skowhegan State Fair - this usually runs in August but definitely check the dates especially if you want to see the demolition derby (which i highly recommend). there’s tons of good food and animals which is my favorite part. if you get a chance to go check out the maple house and buy some maple spread you won’t regret it!

3. Owls Head Light - this lighthouse is one of the touristy spots but i really recommend checking it out. there’s two different short trails one to the lighthouse and one down to a rocky beach where you can sometimes find starfish at high tide.

4. Seadog Brewing Co - there’s a few of these throughout the state but I recommend the one in Camden. Camden is a super cute little town with ice cream shops, stores, and a marina that you can take tours from! the brewing co has awesome beers, awesome food, and a beautiful view.

5. Quill Hill - this is further north in Rangely maine and it might be the best view in the state. You can ATV to the top on a pretty easy trail (you can rent ATVs in town or bring your own) or there’s a trail you can drive up but I don’t recommend taking up low cars as it is a dirt road. there’s picnic tables up top too if you want to have lunch up there!

6. Giffords Ice Cream - hands down best ice cream in the state. it’s carried in grocery stores and at other ice cream shops but i recommend going to a giffords. they have awesome maine flavors and some locations have mini golf!

7. Houston Brook Falls - this is a local secret and i’m honestly a bit wary to share it because i love how private it is! i figured it’s worth sharing with my little community here though! it’s a short walk from the road and it’s safe to swim in although jumping is definitely not recommended. bring swimsuits and wear sneakers!
