people should live together before marriage

I absolutely think people should live together at some capacity before getting married. When you live with someone you discover many things about them that maybe you wouldn’t otherwise!

Picture this.. you have the best wedding ever. Then it’s time to move in together after. A couple months in you start realizing that maybe you arent the most compatible. He doesn’t want to help around the house at all because his mom did all the cooking cleaning and he thinks that’s the way it should be. You are working 55 hours a week and hardly have the energy to do either. He gets MAD because you aren’t cooking an elaborate meal every night like his mom does and is confused why you aren’t also packing his lunch for work.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE MY PERSONAL NIGHTMARE. And I know someone who this happened to. She now feels stuck in an unhappy marriage with a controlling man.

I lived with my husband for one year at his parents house, then a little over a year at our own place before we got married. While living together I realized living with him was better and easier than living apart! He helps around the house, he is capable of cooking for himself when I don’t want to, he is a handy man, he doesn’t raise his voice or have a bad temper, he is good at communicating, he takes care of the dogs, etc. He makes my life easier!
