Europe Tips Part One: Packing & Luggage

I haven't really done a proper European trip in a long time (the previous one was actually 10 years ago on a tour and mostly have been going to the UK after that) so naturally, some things shocked me!

They can be little things you don't really think prior so I thought I'd share some of the things I learned! I went to the Iberian Peninsula recently so I mostly speak for Spain and Portugal with some of these 🤓

Part One: Luggage and Packing

🧳 Consider the luggage you plan to bring (size, weight, durability) - thankfully our luggage wheels have survived the cobblestones but they definitely shed some years off them! I seriously looove to appreciate different patterns and textures of cobblestones and paving materials in Europe but WOW, the functionality aspect really hits you when you have 50lbs of luggage to roll down a few blocks 😹

🧳 For future trips, we're considering bringing just carry ons and larger backpacks to help ease the burden of carrying larger suitcases up and down steps and cobblestoned streets

🧳 If you're not staying at a hotel it can be trickier to store luggage before and after check-in times - ask your host days before (so they're aware) and morning of if they can allow storage while the apartment is being refreshed for the next guests or if they have an office nearby.

🧳 We found storage lockers EVERYWHERE! Shops, train stations, and even luggage pick-up services. We only had to use the luggage pick-up service once and I talk more about it in detail there!

Part two: Things to consider when booking accommodations 😉
