TRANSITION TO TWO KIDS

Our family made the transition from one to two kids about ten months ago now. In the beginning I was not nervous at all, but then as I got closer to delivery I started to feel really worried.

I was worried because my first baby still needed me so much. My first was still nursing, and was always wanting to be held. He is definitely a mama’s boy and preferred me for comfort!

I was scared that he was going to feel betrayed by me and need me when I could not give myself to him because I was stuck in bed in my postpartum bubble.

When my midwife told me that it is not recommended to lift anything over 25 pounds for the first two week’s postpartum, I thought that would be impossible! My son weighed 30 pounds and needed me to carry him room to room.

BUT when the time came and I was postpartum in that bed with our newborn baby, my husband took over. He carried him room to room, made him meals, read books to him, and took on the whole load of the house!

Of course there were a few tantrums and him wanting me but overall the dynamic of family changed! Everyone told me once he was born we would just figure it out, and we did!

My first baby was so adaptive and surprised me so much with how loving and excited he was to have a baby brother!

If you are about to welcome your 2nd baby, I know it feels so so scary, but trust me that it will be beautiful and everything will fall into place exactly how it is meant to!
