Hi all, it’s Clare👋🏻
Here’s a basic packing checklist for studying abroad in Australia (and the reason why😉)
1️⃣Travel Documents:
✔️Passport
✔️Visa (print out and take along)
✔️Admission letter & COE
✔️IELTS result
✔️Driving license (if you’re planning to have some road trips, make sure you applied international license before going)
✔️Flight ticket (in case you’re unable to connect any wifi)
✔️PEN!(Easier for you to fill in the Incoming Passenger Card before landing)
2️⃣Clothing:
✔️Weather-appropriate clothing for various seasons (if you’re petite, there isn’t much choices for you 😂 but still can shop online so don’t need to bring too much also)
✔️Comfortable walking shoes (sneakers, high heels & slippers )
✔️Swimwear if you plan to hit the beaches
✔️Formal attire for special occasions & PRESENTATIONS!
3️⃣Electronics:
✔️Laptop and charger
✔️Power adapter suitable for Australian outlets (MUST Remember!Quite pricey in Aus)
✔️Mobile phone and charger
✔️Camera (optional but the scenery is very nice😉)
4️⃣Toiletries:
✔️Personal hygiene items (don’t need too much, easy to buy everywhere)
✔️Medications (but be careful of Chinese medicines and rmb to declare)
✔️First aid kit (for emergency only)
5️⃣Money and Banking:
✔️Sufficient local currency
✔️💰 Cash (just in case, don’t bring too much if you’re travelling alone)
✔️Credit/debit cards (Wise & Bigpay is quite useful)
✔️Notify your bank about your travel dates (cause some of them will block your transactions to prevent scams, but will cause awkwardness if you’re paying anything😂)
6️⃣Academic Supplies:
✔️Notebooks, pens, and other stationery
✔️Laptop accessories (mouse, USB drives, etc.)
7️⃣Miscellaneous:
✔️Travel lock
✔️Backpack or daypack
✔️Umbrella (optional as wind is too strong, will be broken anyway😂)
8️⃣Kitchen and Dorm Essentials (not necessary is you’re not very particular) easy to get in IKEA, Kmart or Big W
✔️Consider what's provided in your accommodation and what you might need (utensils, cookware, bedding, etc.)
9️⃣Personal Items:
✔️Photos or items that provide comfort from home
✔️Any specific personal items you can't do without
Remember to tailor this list based on your personal needs, the duration of your stay, and the specifics of your study program.
