WHY I LOVE BEING SINGLE IN MY 20s

Hi friends! 🍋

I always had friends in relationships growing up, but once I turned 20, I feel like everyone I know started to take this super seriously. I do believe that there is some sort of stigma that you should start to settle down and have everything figured out in your 20s, so a lot of people that I know started to freak out that they were still single and not in a stable relationship. But, I am 21 and LOVE being single- and I’ll tell you why!

✨FIGURING OUT MYSELF:

Even though you are definitely more mature than you were in highschool/ your teen years by the time you get to your 20s, there is still so much to learn and ways to grow. I feel like these are really transformative years of your life, and getting to spend all my time with myself has allowed me to really get to know myself. I do a lot of things alone or with my friends who are girls since I don’t have a boyfriend. This is helped me realize what I like, learn to enjoy spending time alone, and do things that I want to do when I want to do them since I don’t always have plans with a specific person

✨FOCUS ON WORK/ CAREER/ SCHOOL:

This year, I finished college and really focused on my career. I gave it everything I got and work really long days. I honestly feel like my ability to work so much/ fully dedicate myself to my career would be hindered if I was constantly worried about someone else or texting or calling them. I really just focus on myself. If I was in college, then I know for a fact I would be distracted from school work if a boy was on my mind 24/7

✨IMPACT ON FRIENDSHIPS:

I feel like my friendships are really strong since I don’t have a boyfriend. I've had so many friendships be ruined because the girl would ditch her friends for her boyfriend. My friends are single too so we just love spending time as girls. On the flip side, I have made a ton of guy friends this year, and I feel like I wouldn’t have been able to do that if I had a boyfriend because of jealousy/ loyalty concerns . Some of my best friends now are guys, and I wouldn’t want a boyfriend to interfere with that

🩵Overall, when the time comes, I’d absolutely love to have a boyfriend. But right now, I’m just living it up while im young and enjoying every minute of being single
