what isit like working corporate FT @ 20 y/o 👩🏻‍💼💼

hellloooo zesties 🍋 its the new year! im back w another #Adulting101 post about being a young working adult 🥹

PS. im only two month in being a corporate gurlie 💅✨

some of the things i will be sharing in my following post would be:

1️⃣ why i decided to not further my studies

1️⃣

several reasons why i didnt w to further my studies & go to uni like every typical singaporean kid

- i wasnt sure what courses im int in so i didnt w to waste the $$

- aft poly i felt like i wanted to earn $$ rather thn studying

- my gpa wasnt tht gr8 enuf to get into those big shots uni

2️⃣

at the beginning aft graduating poly, i felt like im still v young to b a working adult. also, all my friends ard me were still studying, intending to further their studies, or serving NS, so i didnt felt tht it was necessary to have a FT job & tht mybe i shld js chill n enjoy life first.

i gave myself half a yr to enjoy, & fastforward 6 months ltr, im a FT corporate gurl. & honestly after being a working adult, i dont think im still too young. i find tht building & accumulating ur wealth frm young is soooo impt, and also CPF contributions is sooo impt to fund ur housing in the future. i mean every1 wants to retire early right!!!!! baby steps is the way to go

for me, iw to b a young mum & marry at a young age, maybe in my mid 20s, so i hv to work towards my goals & start building my assets.

js like how ppl always say its nvr too early to invest, its also never too early to start working!

3️⃣

js like every other singaporeans hunting for jobs, i go on apps like FASTJOBS, tele channels, snatch job, etc… the trick to securing a job faster is to apply for as many jobs and also go for as many interviews as u can.

also, pls spend time to craft out ur resume, ur resume is what ur employers see at first glance & not u, thus be sure to leave a good impression on thm w ur resume

my internship experience was pretty similar to the job im working in rn, i was interning in XXX department, and my current job is also in the same department but diff bank

pls dont screw up ur internships!!! its so impt for ur future FT job if ur planning to work in the same line of industry/ department. bc the chances of ur interviewers knowing ur ex colleagues are pretty high. a good example wld be me, my interviewer asked for my colleagues name, & she knew them, so they cld easily find out how ur like during work.

what do u guys find as the most impt factor when it comes to finding a job? salary, work culture, or progression? 🤔

personally, since im still young, i feel its a good time to explore jobs & make mistaes. when i say mistakes, i mean like finding out whether this job is for u anot, is this the culture uw? if it isnt, its not too late to quit, u r still young, dont b afraid to try out new things!! rather thn ur old already n uw 2 job hop, thts much harder.

im sure all of us are looking for a job w all 3 factors: salary, work culture & progression. with a positive & good working environment, increases the chance of progression & salary increment.

why? being on good terms w ur colleagues & creating connections at work leaves a good impression on others abt u. climbing the ladder is all abt having connections, harsh but its true, but ofc the bottomline is tht ur performing well too.

lmk wht u guys think abt cmg out to work at a young age! do u think it is impt to go uni or it is ok to work FT after tertiary education? 🤷🏻‍♀️
