Pregnancy changed my opinion on pro choice

Disclaimer: I am not attacking anyone who deems it necessary to have an abortion. I do believe there are valid arguments for the procedure, and it is an extremely personal decision to make between oneself and their doctor. I’m not wanting to argue against it, but just stating that this experience has personally changed my point of view on the matter. Thank you!

Most of my life I have wanted children. When I become older and more opinionated, I have always been proudly pro choice. I fully believed in the total autonomy of a woman in the decision to keep or terminate a pregnancy. However, I have begun to understand the logic behind pro life.

The Catholic Church has always advocated against pro choice and believe that all children are a blessing, and I never fully understood what that meant until I got pregnant. This experience truly is a gift from God. My son, who is kicking me as I write this, is such a beautiful blessing. Gods love and grace gave me the honor of being a mother with my wonderful fiancé. How could I refuse such a gift? How could I allow my own personal reasons reject what God has given me?

I am going through something so deeply divine and I can’t help but feel that even though I wasn’t ready and it will be a struggle at some points, I am extremely blessed by God with this baby.
