How to Explore Iceland for $120/day!

This trip was 7 years ago (WOW) and there’s surely been a great deal of inflation since then, but as a 24 y/o with a mid level job in a third world city I definitely have some great tips on how we squeezed our money’s worth in this country.

Group size 🗣️

We were 6 people and shared the two biggest expenses of this trip: car rental and accommodations. Traveling in large group definitely helped distribute costs.

Accommodations 🗝️

We mixed and matched airbnbs and hotels where it made sense. All our accommodations were actually quite nice too!

Food + Dining 🥓

We had frequent grocery stops and cooked most of our meals! Our most expensive meal was at $50/person - and that was just to try langoustine.

Attractions 🧊

What’s great about Iceland is most of the things you’ll probably want to see are FREE. Save for a $90 glacier hike and $80 entry to Blue Lagoon, we did everything DIY.
