this viral bibimbap is NOT worth the hype...🙅❌️🥲

Hey zesties~ I visited the viral Mincheng Bibimbap shop that just opened at Funan. To be honest, I'm conflicted about my experience. While it does bring affordable and generous portions, the food tasted hella mid.🙃 (keeping in mind me and my friend queued over an hour for this!!!) Their signature menu item, bibimbap, is available in both regular and hot stone pot versions, starting from just $7.80 per bowl. This low price point, coupled with free-flow sides like kimchi, rice, and seaweed soup, makes it a very budget-friendly option.

However, if you’re craving authentic Korean food, this might not be the place for you. We tried the recommended bibimbap, hotplate squid, and also shared a Korean kimchi stew. The kimchi stew was quite disappointing – it lacked real flavour and was overly salty. It didn't stand out, nor did it leave a lasting impression, just a very normal tasting kopitiam styled dish(?) The squid had a very peculiar taste, almost as if it was seasoned with instant meal seasoning, giving it a very familiar Chinese instant food flavour.

The bibimbap was probably the best out of the three items we ordered, but it was still pretty underwhelming - especially after queuing for over an hour. The food didn't justify the wait.

On the upside, the portions are large, and the free-flow sides ensure you won't leave hungry. I think this place offers great value for money, but the taste is no different from the average food court "Korean" food. While it’s a decent meal for the price, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon, and I'm definitely not queuing for it again.
