MY CAR WAS HIT&RUN WHILE PARKED

I parked my car the day prior of the accident at around 2pm and when I came back the next day in the morning, when I was leaving for work, I found a nasty scratch on the front of my car?? Fortunately a super nice witness left me a note & told me what happened. He even sent me his video footage once we connected. FYI, even tho I have the video footage, I wouldnt have known who did it as my car cam did not capture the car plate of the offender. The whole process to get this sorted out was really troublesome though. If you do get into the same situation as me, here's what you need to do!

1) Submit a traffic police accident report online on Singapore Police Force website

2) The investigating officer will contact you to lias the details required

3) Call your insurance company to check where to submit your accident report for a third-party claim (mine was done physically at their authorised workshop)

4) Wait for the traffic police to conclude your case before sending your car to any workshop for repair & claim

I sent my car immediately to a workshop after the accident report was done, which they assured me that it was fine to proceed. The workshop will submit the third party claim on your behalf & there is no payment on your end!

I am not sure what happened to the offender, and to be honest I will be more than willing to settle it on private terms but he left me with no choice as he ran off without leaving his contact. Super thankful for the kind witness or else this situation would have given me an even bigger headache. I hope this was helpful and stay safe everyone!!
