āœØTOFU V DIARIES: PREGNANCY!

Iā€™m currently in my 2nd trimester and finally getting around to writing this, now that Iā€™m feeling slightly better after the 1st šŸ¤žšŸ»

Itā€™s common knowledge that the 1st trimester can be gruelling, but I never knew it would be THIS bad until I went through it myself. I spoke to a few people but it seemed that they didnā€™t experience the same, but I was comforted when I scoured forums and discovered that I was not alone šŸ„¹

šŸ‘¶šŸ» Overwhelming fatigue: Everyone talks about morning sickness, but why does no one mention the fatigue!!! I was feeling great up till Wk 6, even working out and hitting PRs, and then I was completely wiped out in Wk 7. I would black out / fall asleep while someone was talking to me - at 12pm! There was also once where I made lunch, ate, and then got so sleepy that I fell asleep on my yoga mat, only waking up to wash the dishes lol. For someone who used to wake up at 5 or 6am to run, I could no longer get up before 9am. Afternoon naps were a must, and I found myself sleeping at 10 or 11pm. Most of my 1st trimester was just spent sleeping!

šŸ‘¶šŸ» Eczema flare-ups: This was another of my biggest pains during the 1st trimester. I started itching and developing rashes everywhere, particularly my neck, chest, and joints. I had never experienced anything like that before and couldnā€™t even use steroid creams for it. I also woke up every night itching and miserable! Dr suspected it could be hormonal - I had to take hormone medication around Wk 7-8 because I had some bleeding.

šŸ‘¶šŸ» Messed-up diet: For someone who prided herself on eating clean, I suddenly craved carbs more than ever - a bit like period cravings! I ate more carbs every meal and had serious problems with protein intake. Thankfully, those were mostly covered by my daily milk & cheese consumption. I didnā€™t crave sugar BUT I really wanted to eat croissants and pasta for unknown reasons šŸ„šŸ

šŸ‘¶šŸ» Inconsistent food aversions: Some days I could take chicken and eggs, and other days I would just shun them for no reason. I got a bit anxious about cooking because I didnā€™t know if I could eat what I cooked. I also couldnā€™t stand the sight of raw chicken lol.

šŸ‘¶šŸ» Breathlessness: I used to do 5-10km runs weekly but now I canā€™t even walk for long without feeling out of breath. I also get giddy spells when I walk under the sun (started in Wk 7) so I had to say goodbye for my runs.

šŸ‘¶šŸ» Outgrew almost all my current clothes: I didnā€™t expect this to happen so soon! I was so frustrated because in the early weeks my bloat was already making my pants uncomfy, and then I realised I couldnā€™t even wear my bras anymore because the boobs grow by so much!

P.S. not trying to scare anyone off pregnancy ok haha, but I do think itā€™s good to be aware of what you could possibly go through should you choose to give birth! I find that it also helps educate their partners, because Tofu G couldnā€™t quite believe I was going through that kind of torture lol šŸ«
