the midwest really beat florida!

I really thought I was biased when I said Saugatuck is the best coastal town (because it also happens to be my hometown), but usa today confirmed it! Sorry Key West, maybe next year.

Saugatuck is only a 2.5 hour drive from Chicago and is the perfect weekend getaway! While you’re there:

🏖️Spend the day at the beach

Oval Beach is the main and largest beach in the area, although you will have to pay a fee to visit this spot! Douglas Beach is a smaller alternative, but get there early to secure a spot!

🛥️Head out on the lake

You really have to get out on the water! Take a cruise with the @starofsaugatuck or rent the cutest retro boats at @retroboatrentals ! You can also hire a boat (with or without a captain) for a more personalized experience at various local vendors. PS sunsets on @sailingsaugatuck are extra special!

🍷Taste some local wine

The region’s geographic properties make it perfect for wine production! My favorite is @wyncroftmarlandwine but they only offer private tours/tastings so book ahead! @modaleswines @fennvalleyvineyards and @michiganwineco are also spectacular.

🥘Try the local eats

There are really so many good options in the area! @the_butler_restaurant @thebarge_saugatuck and RedDock are great for waterfront dining. @wicksparkbar @thesouthernermi and @borrowedtimesaugatuck are also just *chefs kiss*.

🛍️Shop your heart out

Downtown Saugatuck is home to so many unique boutiques! Spend an afternoon strolling around town and you’re sure to take home some great finds.
