This is what a typical shift as a fulfillment expert looks like at Target.
1. 5:00am: Clock in
I start my day off by clocking into work at 5am and grabbing my equipment.
2. 5:05am: Picking Orders
Any orders placed on Target.com are sent to stores that have your item in stock. I am responsible for picking your item from the shelves. These are called "batches"
3. 7:00am: First Break
I take my first break at 7am. I had free water from the break room and a mini veggie platter I brought from home. I used to not eat on my first break but I found it made me less angry and more energetic to eat a snack.
4. 7:15am: Prepping Orders
After my break, I start prepping orders from the batches picked. This means I am bagging any items that could spill, wrapping any fragile items such as mugs, lamps, or ceramic items, and bagging clothes. This ensures the items will be protected during shipment.
5. 9:45am: Lunch Time
Around 9:45am, I will clock out for lunch. Today I had a hot dog from the Target Pizza Hut food court and a bag of sour cream and onion chips. Don't sleep on the Target food! It's scrumptious!!!
6. 10:30am: Packing Orders
After lunch, I start packing orders. This is my favorite part of my day. It's so fun to see what people ordered.
7. 1:30: Clock Out
At 1:30pm, I clock out for the day! Woo
