I think it all started when I was in my second job during the COVID period. I did not have much bad experiences with dreaming until that one time I was napping during the day on the sofa where I experienced Sleep Paralysis.

I had a dream where I was running away from a murderer and I got stabbed in the chest (probably due to a drama I was watching earlier on💀) Immediately, I gasped and “woke up” from my dream. I even remember sitting up abruptly and looking at the surrounding of my home where I was at. AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. The waking up part. And again, and again. Basically, the “waking up” part repeated itself 5 times before I finally woke up sweating profusely and my heart beating so hard against my chest and I just thought… “I’m alive”.

I thought that the ghastly encounter means I’m dead.

Afterwards, I started to have Sleep paralysis moments every few months, be it during my normal sleep time or if I took a nap at different place and time of the day. It was truly terrifying.

Few years later, I started developing lucid dreaming, where I became conscious that I was in a dream and I could control it. But I knew the thing I couldn’t control is the waking up part, so I did things my way instead of the usual chaotic dreams I usually have😂 it was kinda cool at first, but it got tiring cos I usually wake up very tired.

I didn’t seek any treatment for it, all I did was Googled it a lot. It was highly related to my life when I was awake, and the running part is relating to me running away from something/someone when I was awake, it can be running away from responsibilities, or constantly feeling like a pressure is there and I want to run away from it.

From my experience, sleep paralysis usually occurs when I’m in a stressful period of my life, usually due to work. It still happens to me from time to time, and there was once where I “woke up” with a pressure on my chest and felt like something was pressing against me even when there was nothing. And then I woke up. That was one of the more terrifying ones because I honestly thought it was a 👻.

Oh, and usually I’ll try to avoid horror/scary movies right before I sleep to prevent all this images from appearing in my dreams haha.

Does anyone have similar experiences like me too?
