My anxiety got really bad since high school. I felt like I was in fight or flight ALL the time. My worst triggers were relationships and performance. Here’s how I healed it.
RELATIONSHIP ANXIETY:
🌷 Choosing GOOD people: Bc I'm anxiously attached, I would always just choose people without vetting them bc I didn't want to be alone. Over the past few years, I've become WAY more intentional about who I let into my life. I no longer entertain people who don't value me. This has reduced my anxiety SO MUCH.
🌷 Truly forgiving: Whenever someone does something that upsets me, I try to look at the situation from their perspective. This lets me become more empathetic and removes negativity from the situation. I no longer feel so much resentment and anxiety about fixing these relationships - it makes it easier to let go.
🌷 Internal validation: I look to MYSELF for validation. Bc my self-worth no longer depends on others, other people can't take it away from me. A strong identity helps so much with reducing anxiety around not feeling good enough.
PERFORMANCE ANXIETY:
🌿 Understanding triggers: Recognizing when I get most anxious around performance (usually around tests or presentations), I can give myself ample time to prepare. This usually helps me reduce my anxiety!
🌿 Letting go of perfection: I used to be SO scared to start on anything bc I wanted every step to be perfect. This made me procrastinate, which made me more anxious. By letting go of perfection, I can just take action.
🌿 RADICAL SELF-LOVE: Loving myself is the BEST thing I've ever done for my anxiety. Realizing that I am worthy, good-enough, and can accomplish anything I set my mind to gives me so much peace. It helps me self-soothe whenever I feel anxious.
