Honest Book Review: Happy Place - Emily Henry

I recently read this book after buying it secondhand at a small book shop a while back, and thought I would do a review on it!

I’ve been more into romance books recently, and this one felt like a great place to start for people getting into the more trendy romance books. There’s not too much spice, but it does get detailed when there is.

I really liked the concept of a cabin getaway with a friend group that’s built up over the years. It felt like I was on a Summer getaway while reading it at home, totally not on a getaway trip.

I couldn’t get myself to put the book down after every chapter, especially once everyone’s issues and motives started surfacing. The friend group beginning to fall apart was really well written and super interesting to read. I just had to know what happened next, especially with those cliffhanger chapters. I really got to know all the characters and started to feel for them all, which totally didn’t help in trying to put the book down.

The ending where they moved in together again and she attempted to start a new life was sweet, but I felt like her mother and wondered why she would drop everything after working towards the medical industry so much. But then again, it’s never too late to change your path and do what’s best for you.
