hello lovelies! so me & my bf has been obsessed w building our own keyboard for the longest time, sourcing every parts online by ourselves, frm the bare bones to keycaps to switch, etc.

recently we came across @rf_laboratory on IG & they recently opened an outlet at cathay cineleisure (The Laboratory by RF) & we were like why not lets go check it out! & tADAAAA we got ourselves a customised keyboard 🤩

1️⃣ PRE BUILD OR CUSTOM BUILD

so u get to choose whether uw a keyboard tht is alr built & ready to go home or u wna build a keyboard of ur own frm scratch! ⌨️

RF LABORATORY has a huge space at orchard, & LOTS OF DIFF keyboards, switches & keycaps for u to choose frm! i promise 🤞🏻🤞🏻 u will be SPOILT FOR CHOICES

2️⃣ WE OPTED FOR A CUSTOM BUILD

barebone/ board — Chilkey ND75

switches — Sillyworks Hyacinth Switch V2U (4.0mm)

keycaps — WS PBT KEYCAPS (Gray Skies)

3️⃣ BAREBONE/BOARD — CHILKEY ND75

after choosing btwn LOTS OF OPTIONS, we opted for Chilkey ND75, it is a 75% keyboard making it compact yet functional. pre-built version starts frm 🏷️$159 as it is considered as one of the high end custom keyboards

the FIRST THING THAT CAUGHT MY EYE was the LED SCREEN module at the bottom right of the keyboard 😍 it allows you to:

✅ access ur settings (change language, colors & macros)

✅ import any GIFs of ur choice

the barebone itself is made frm high grade materials such as:

✅ anodized aluminium giving off a premium feel

✅ weight: 1.7kg, keyboard has a balanced feel providing a solid stable base that stays put during typing

4️⃣ KEYCAPS — WS PBT KEYCAPS (GRAY SKIES)

✅ incredibly durable made from high quality PBT plastic ensuring that the keyboard looks as good as new after prolonged use

🎨 it comes in many other colorways as well, such as the classic black & white

5️⃣ TYPING EXPERIENCE (SILLYWORKS HYACINTH SWITCH V2U)

✅ linear switch tht provides a smooth, consistent and buttery keystroke that gamers and typists will appreciate

✅ switches come pre-lubed from the factory that contribute to a creamy sound profile

6️⃣ BLUETOOTH & WIRED

✅ offers connectivity such as Bluetooth 5.0 and Wired 2.4G, allowing users to switch between wireless and wired modes

❌ however, there is a small downside to the bluetooth mode, in order to turn on the keyboard you have to remove the right shift key and push a small button up to on and down to off
