i hate feeling bloated! it makes me feel self-conscious about how i look and it’s really uncomfortable. but despite eating health and being active, bloating still happens from time to time.

bloating is causes by buildup of extra gas, constipation, or excess water retention (usually caused by dehydration or your menstrual cycle). while there’s no “fast” way to reduce inflammation causes by water retention, you can help relieve gas and constipation quickly.

light stretches that help to stretch digestive muscles, reduce gas, and increase lymphatic drainage are perfect for this. the stretches in the post can be done for 20-30 seconds each and can really help to reduce bloating (and gas) quickly.

heat and light movement are also great for this (a slow walk is my go-to for constipation). try walking or doing a quick youtube yoga workout and then taking a warm shower. i also love my heated blanket when i’m feeling extra bloated. both heat and movement help to promote better digestion, thus reducing bloating.

peppermint and chamomile tea are also a great option as they help relax tight digestive muscles and reduce inflammation in the gut. i like to brew the two together and chill out on the couch with my heated blanket.
