period alternatives to tampons 🌸

with the recent studies done in tampons, I’ve stopped using them all together!!

according to this study, tampons contained traces of 16 metals including lead, arsenic, and cadmium.

Some of them were elevated past safe levels but the brands were not disclosed!

The effects of the heavy metals in the tampons have not been studied yet, but the vagina is highly absorbent! This means potentially that these metals are being absorbed into our body and we don't know the effects!

For me, this was enough reason to stop using tampons! I had already started using them less and less because they made my cramps worse!!

This past period I didn't use a single tampon and honestly it was great 😌

I hope they do more studies on this and do a study on pads as well!! I only buy organic cotton pads with no fragrance or dyes. Other ingredients can cause potential irritation or sensitivity.

Some alternatives to tampons are period underwear, cups/discs & pads 🤍
