Saving 💸: YOU HAVE TO SAVE. I worked at Five Guys making $17.00 an hour doing 30 hour work weeks.

With my checks being around $1200-$1300 every two weeks I would always save $550.

After about three months I had around $3300 to start looking for a car. BUT I had been saving for about a year and had $15,000 all together.

Searching 🚗: Look in your price range. You don’t need to be dealing with maintenance costs every other week because you decided to get an unreliable car.

I was looking for anything under $30,000 but you can find cheaper if that’s what you like. I ended up at the Toyota dealership originally looking for a small SUV but found a liking for a Corolla.

Purchasing 🤑: Make sure if it’s your first time buying from a dealership that you have an experienced adult with you (they will try to get over on you and pressure you). The base cost for a brand new Corolla off the lot is $25,000. I got the SE model for $30,000. Having a co signer with great credit will help as well. I personally was still building my credit so I didn’t have a credit score at the time. After finding the car I liked we started signing. I ended up with putting $0 down 7.12 interest and $505 a month.

Now I’m happier that every back on the road to make money moves🫶🏽
