Don’t get overcharged on your transport! SimplyGo

Hello! I recently came across another post in lemon8 and this user literally helped me save costs. If you take public transport but don’t have the SimplyGo app, I SUGGEST YOU DOWNLOAD IT NOWWWW.

So the perks of this app, other than in built travel guide which suggest how to travel to your destination; it also helps you check your concession / EZ-Link card balance just using your phone!

But if you are a credit card user like me, you can also add your card into this app, and track your travels and expenses !! What’s good is that you can filter it by very specific dates, good for financial tracking of your transport costs every month.

But the main topic I would like to share which seriously saved money for me, is the “File a claim for overcharged fare” function!! So I made sure that I always tap my card when boarding and alighting, but I notice that I often get “missing entry” inside my SimplyGo transaction. There are 2 reasons for it:

1) You use different device when boarding and alighting. Did you know that even with the SAME CREDIT CARD, you have to use the SAME DEVICE for a single trip. You can’t tap in with your Apple Watch and tap out with your Apple Pay even if it’s linked to the same card 🤯 I never knew that and that’s been costing me so much…

Similarly, SG has an amazing cost saving service when you make a transfer on the public transport, so make sure you’re using the SAME device or else you won’t get the discounts!

2) There are issues with the system and they didn’t detect your tapping / did not process.

🌸 So the solution is to go through your transactions, spot these errors and file a charge claim! As seen on pic 3 , you only need to include the reason for claim, and if it’s a missing entry, to choose your start / end station or bus stop!

They will let you know that the claim is being processed and you should receive your refund within the next month ✨🫡
