The Last Straw: How It All Ended (Part 6)

His reputation in NS was terrible, even with the superiors. But before I get into the case, let me give you some background context.

He had this habit of secretly taking things from camp back home, either for personal use or to sell online. There was a storeroom filled with items like drinks, batteries, and even Swiss Army knives. He’d smuggle cartons of drinks, boxes of batteries, and knives, then sell them off on Carousell.

Why was his phone confiscated? Well, they were investigating a stolen Coach wallet. He claimed he found it in a toilet one night, assumed it was abandoned, and thought, "If it’s still there tomorrow, it’s mine." So, the next morning, he took it and listed it on Carousell.

The camp found out and discovered all the other items he’d stolen and listed for sale, including the wallet. After that, he was sent to the Detention Barracks for a month.

The Last Day:

We were at Bird Paradise, enjoying a date when I spotted my guy friend from afar and casually mentioned it, “Eh, that’s my friend.” He immediately grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from his direction so quickly.

When he sees his own friends in public, I don’t react like that. He’d say hi, and I wouldn’t even mind. But why was he so weird about me seeing mine?

Later, on the MRT ride home, I showed him a message on my phone. That same friend had DM-ed me to say he saw me. My boyfriend got so angry and started scolding me about it.

I snapped back. He used to flirt with other girls, responding to their IG stories for attention. All I did was mention seeing a friend. What was wrong with that?

I was so pissed, I left him and went home. But he wouldn’t stop scolding me over text. That’s when I started reviewing everything about our relationship.

All the things he’d done, all the things he’d said for the past 2.5years. Nothing had changed.

He even admitted he saved girls’ IG posts because, in his words, “I only see them as objects.” Even his own friends!

I realized I couldn’t see a future with him. Every time he talked about BTO or having a baby, I would zone out, uninterested. I was no longer excited about a future with him. I couldn’t imagine living in fear, constantly worried about him doing something illegal or reckless again.

So, I went back to his house, collected all my things, and broke up with him.
