HHN12 TIPS! 👻🎃💀

It’s that time of the year again! 🎃👻

Universal Studios Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights is back for its 12th year! This year HHN runs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 27 Sept - 2 Nov! I attended HHN12 on 5th Oct, Sat and here’s how me & my friends managed to visit all the houses, scarezones and rides before 11PM!

💡QUEUE AT THE SIDES TO GET IN

The indicators above the gate will say the side queues are only for certain ticket holders, but check with the staff if you can queue at that gate! We had general admission tickets but the gate we entered the park from said it was designated for Frights for Four. Special ticket holders usually enter the park earlier, and I guess the staff don’t change the banner instructions, so just ask anyone working if you can queue at that gate! These queues are usually shorter too so you can get in really fast 🏎️

💡PLAN YOUR ROUTE

If you’ve been to HHN before you’ll know what I mean when I say it’s notorious for its LOOOOOONG queues… so if you’re planning to finish all the houses and scare zones, planning your route is a MUSSSTTT!! Slides 2 and 3 will show you the route we chose to take. I’ve also included an unannotaited ver of the map in Slide 4 for you guys to plan!

(If you’re wondering why I didn’t put a number on Nether-Land, it’s because you’ll pass by it SO MANY TIMES while walking to the different houses, especially because the Madagascar area of the park is closed now.)

We were in the middle of the crowd for rope drop but if you’re at the back, you can take a route similar to the one we did! ☺️

If you’re near the start of the rope drop I would suggest visiting Sweet Home first, as that’s the house with the most crowd (IMO) throughout the night, and move clockwise! 🔁

💡USE THE USS APP

Check the queue timings for houses and rides with the USS app! The app helped us a lot in planning when to visit the more popular rides (Mummy, Human & Cyclon). There were certain timings that the queue for these rides were 40-60 minutes, but when we visited them we only had to queue for 5 minutes or less!

I’d suggest checking the timing for the rides after each house and catch the right time to visit them! The rides were empty around the start of the night (7-8:30), and most busy around 9:30-11.

The app also displays the wait timing for the houses!

💡CHECK THE SHOW TIMINGS

Using the USS app or the screens around the park, take note of the show timings (particularly Ocu-lar’s Rave and Dark Dreams)! The queue for the houses around the shows are usually shorter since everyone will be distracted by the shows. Vice versa, the houses near the shows will usually be more crowded when the shows end. Make sure to avoid / make use of the timings!

I’d recommend catching Dark Dreams right before you leave the park! It’s a great way to end off the night! If possible try to get a seat near the center at the last row of the first floor! You can look at slides 5 and 6 for my view!! It was a really good show with many many unexpected twists 🔀

💡DOWNLOAD GAMES

In the case you’re stuck in a queue for too long of a time… make sure you download some games BEFORE HHN!! The data inside SUCKS because of the number of people squeezed into one place and the general coverage of the area, so just download them in the queue to enter USS. Here are some games we found really entertaining:

- Charades

- Among Us

- Family Style
