FOODIE DELIGHTS @ TAKASHIMAYA (until 15 Oct)

Finally got down to Taka on Fri (11 Oct) afternoon to try out the viral banana pies & shio pans!

Went around 2pm and here's how everything went down:

- Banana pies - available for preorder, collection at 6pm

- Shio & Sato - next available time at 5pm

Well, I placed a preorder for the banana pies and saw a small queue in front of shio & sato. Was confused cause the sign said next available time is 5pm but I heard the staff saying that they giving out FREE samples of their buns cause those didn't pass their quality checks! And I got the last free sample HAHAHAH 🥳

Went back again around 4:40pm and there was already a long queue for shio & sato! Like I was in the 3rd queue. But huge kudos to the taka staff 🙏! Had a small chat with one of them - they are just normal taka staff with work to do but were deployed to help manage the queues and avoid getting the shops there affected by the queues. If you’re going down in these last 3 days, do queue in an orderly manner and listen to their instructions!

Anyways, after a 1hr+ queue (I reached the front around 6:10pm), there weren't much flavours left. And the person in front took the last miso butter corn!! 😭 But I asked them cause I see them baking new batches and they started a "preorder"! "Preordered" 2 green chilli onion & 2 miso butter corn, and came back 15mins later to collect. So that took a total of near 2hrs...

Verdict of the food:

- Banana 🍌 pies ($5.50 each, $10 for 2) - 3/5 I felt it was meh, or perhaps I'm just not a savoury banana person... The crust was also less crispy than I expected, but could be because I ate it only after I went home.

- Shio pans 🍞 ($3.60 - $9 but depends on what flavours are available) - 5/5 Delicious. Already loving it from the free sample I got at 2pm. The green chilli onion one could be a bit 'jelak' but the miso butter corn was perfect. I would totally queue again IF I got the time and was there early enough.

- Dome bakery brownies ($6.50 - $7.50) - 3.5/5 Gooey centered brownies! Delicious but very 'jelak'.

I really do hope shio & sato open a proper stall though! And for those who wants to go within these last few days, their bake times should be 10am, 1pm and 6:30pm (according to their IG page but subject to changes like when I went).
