9D8N Itinerary to Hong Kong & China ✈️🇨🇳

I just returned a few days ago from a 9D8N trip to the Greater Bay Area, visiting Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guang Zhou! Sharing my itinerary for anyone looking for suggestions on what to do and eat while visiting these places!

Hong Kong (3D2N)

Day 1️⃣：

Afternoon

• Stayed at Nathan Hotel

• Lunch at ‘Dim Sum Here’ (Jordan station outlet)

• Explored shopping areas in Tsim Sha Tsui, Mong Kok, and Yau Mei Tei

Evening

• Had Michelin Star ‘Cheung Hing Kee Shanghai Pan Fried Buns’ (生煎包) for dinner!! 💯🤤👍

• Went Avenue of Stars to see the harbour and skyline of Hong Kong 🤩🌆 Breathtaking view!!

Day 2️⃣:

Morning

• Breakfast at Luen Wah Cafe in Sai Wan

Afternoon

• Explored Causeway Bay, Wan Chai shopping district

• Visited Tai Kwun, the old police headquarters and prison cells (Definitely worth a visit!!)

Evening

• Had Michelin Star ‘Kwan Kee Claypot Rice’ for dinner - Queued for 1hr+ but so worth it 🤤

Hong Kong / Shenzhen (2D1N)

Day 3️⃣:

Morning

• Woke up early to catch High Speed Rail to Shenzhen (15 mins only) - Need to fill up an immigration card for foreign visitors; overall process was relatively quick and fuss-free!

• Bought Sausage maggi noodles for breakfast from a random cafe in the railway station - Pricey and taste mid 🫤

Afternoon

• Check-in to HuaQiang Plaza Hotel 💯👍

• Lunch at Phoenix House (凤凰楼）

• Explored Coco Park Mall; Played Overcooked at one of the gaming stations in the mall

Evening

• Explored Dong Men Pedestrian Street (东门老街)

• Had ‘Tai Er’ for dinner at Kingglory Plaza

Shenzhen / Guang Zhou (4D3N)

Day 4️⃣:

Morning

• Explored GanKeng Town (甘坑古镇 ), we had Muah Chee + 生煎包 for lunch

Afternoon

• Went to Huaqiangbei Electronic Market (Similar to Sim Lim Square in SG, but 5 times bigger)

• Visited Underground mall outside Huaqiangbei Electronic Market

• Catch High-Speed Train from Shenzhen to Guang Zhou

Evening

• Check-in to Jianguo hotel (广州建国酒店） in the evening; The service and room decor do not align with the standards expected of a 5-star hotel; I wouldn't recommend staying here

• Dinner at Michelin Restaurant 陶陶居 💯

• Went to Beijing Road (北京路) for shopping

• Ended off the day with dessert at 明记甜品

Day 5️⃣:

Morning

• Explored 广州永庆坊 (Worth visiting) > 上下九步行街 (do not recommend)> 沙面岛 (do not recommend) - All three places are located quite close to each other

Afternoon; Check out Bruce Lee’s Ancestral House when you visit 永庆坊!!

• Dian Dou De (点都德) for lunch - MUST order their egg tart!!

• Went to Miguan (名冠服装批发城) for wholesale shopping

Evening

• Explored 时尚天河, it’s a mega mall that worth a visit

• Had Lok Lok, 神剑包, spicy shrimp noodles for dinner

Day 6️⃣:

Morning

• Explored 南泰百货食品批发中心

• Went back to Beijing Road 北京路 to shop again

Afternoon

• Tried the famous Crab Roe noodles at 蟹记王 for lunch

• Went to 公元前 - Super crowded mall

• Went back to 时尚天河 to shop again

Evening

• Dinner at Haidilao at 天河领展广场 - very disappointed with their service, would not recommend this outlet

Guang Zhou / Hong Hong (3D2N)

Day 7️⃣:

Afternoon

• Lunch at 陶陶居 again (Yes we went back for the second time to try their Dimsum!!)

• Explored more areas along Beijing Road 北京路

• Explored 东山口 - very hipster place with many beautiful instagrammable shops

Evening

• Head to train station to go back to Hong Kong (1hr30min)

• Dinner at Kam Wah Cafe & Cake Shop

Day 8️⃣:

Morning

• Bought mantou for breakfast from Tong Bao Dim (唐包店) the MRT (very tasty mantou)

• Hike at Dragon Back (Shek O)

Afternoon

• Went to get Essential Oils from Shiu Shin Hong

• Had wonton noodles at Mak’s noodles restaurant

• Bought egg tart from Tai Cheong and tried the famous milk tea from Lan Fong Yuen

• Had more food at Australia Dairy

• Head over to Citygate Outlet for more shopping

Evening

• Had Molten Chocolate croffles from AM.PM Hong Kong

• Late dinner at Hing Kee restaurant for their famous claypot rice

Day 9️⃣:

Morning

• Breakfast at Australia Dairy Farm - Best scramble eggs I’ve eaten!!

• Last min shopping around Tsim Sha Tsui

Afternoon

• Head to airport - Would advise to go to the airport earlier as it is huge with many shops to explore

• Flight back to SG > Home sweet home 🏠

This pretty much sums up what I did during the trip!

Note that those places highlighted in my photos are what I highly recommend to explore!! I will share in detail about the food & places I recommend / do not recommend in my subsequent posts!
