the best night market imo 🎇

taiwan is well known for their night markets so of course we had to go to a few during our trip! after going to rao he, shi lin, feng chia and xi men ding, here’s my thoughts and ranking 🏆

1️⃣ rao he

my fav out of the 4!! compared to the rest this night market is actually pretty small but that’s exactly what i love about it 🤪 it’s so easy to navigate about and the route is kind of like a “U” shape so people heading in walk on the right while those leaving walk on the left. despite being smaller, we actually bought the most food here! it’s much more chill and easy to casually walk and look at the food without having to squeeze 🫶🏻 also rao he is a few minutes away from our hotel which makes me love it even more HAHAH

2️⃣ xi men ding

this place gives more of an outdoor shopping mall when compared to other night markets because it has so many individual shopping stores / restaurants / souvenir shops! after a long day of sightseeing and walking, this is the perfect place to come and get some snacks and still be able to sit down. i highly recommend trying their fried chicken — it’s apparently very famous and i definitely see why after eating it 🤤 another thing i love about ximending is the fact that there are TONS of bubble tea stores! you can go around trying the various stores with your family and friends🧋

3️⃣ feng chia

located in taichung, this is a must visit for most tourist! but i have to say this place is SUPER HUGE, even outside of the night market itself there are tons of stalls — it gets a little confusing tbh :”) a lot of the food sold here weren’t really our taste like the XL squid, oyster, etc. but we did still get a few snacks to eat and the 葱抓饼 was soooo good 🫓

4️⃣ shi lin

lastly, shi lin — more known for shopping so there’s lesser food in comparison. if you’re looking to shop you can give shi lin a try but since we weren’t really looking to shop, this place seemed a little underwhelming compared to the rest. but of course we didn’t leave without getting a few snacks! many people queued for the mushrooms and it’s really yumz esp the seaweed flavour — the portion is pretty big so it did get a little jelak 🍄
