With so many factors contributing to our stress levels these days, there’s no doubt why many of us tend to get burnt out really quickly 😢

For myself, I’m ALWAYS burnt out…😵‍💫 I started working full-time a few months before I graduated from poly while people were going on long holidays (though we can’t travel then) 🥲

Till date, this has been my BIGGEST regret because once you start working, breaks are hard to come by unless you use your annual leave or if you quit your job 😌

💥 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 ‘𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁’?

A burnout is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion after experiencing long-term stress or after doing emotionally draining activities for a prolonged time.

💥 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗳 𝗜’𝗺 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁?

You are burnt out if:

🚩 you feel tired & drained almost everyday

🚩 you constantly feel negative towards your work/company/school

🚩 you keep procrastinating & take a longer time than usual to get things done

🚩 you feel extremely overwhelmed to the point you’re suffocating

🚩 you’re not performing as well as before

🚩 you constantly feel like you’ve got a creativity block— ideas just don’t flow

💩 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗜 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁?

My first burnout came during my final year in poly where I had to juggle my school assignments, cca exco position and internship.

Especially during my internship— I was constantly working late nights to do as much work as I could and to also finish my tasks on hand as quickly as possible. 🥲 All this just to get a good grade and secure a full time position in the company I was interning at.

I mean I eventually did get an A and ALMOST secured a full-time job there but that’s a story for another day 😌

💩 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁?

I’ve been experiencing burnouts every month ever since I started working and now that I also have uni assignments to juggle with, it’s so bad to the point that it’s damaging my physical and mental well-being 😔 I’m just so exhausted everyday.

Because of this, I’ve been taking leaves more often, not performing as well and just constantly have low energy levels. But I’m super glad that I have such a supportive and understanding boss and my loved ones who always supports me :”) ❤️

🌈 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀?

🌸 Stop working outside of working hours— this is the no.1 rule of adulting !! Start practicing work-life balance and leave your leisure time to do things you enjoy!

🌸 Stop comparing— don’t compare your life with others because y’all are all in different life stages. You will be alright <3

🌸 Stop overpacking your schedule— you need time ALONE to recharge and rest so don’t overpack your schedule!! Try to leave some days empty for alone time. You don’t always have to be busy.

🌸 Don’t sleep so late— get more sleep please. This is very important because it directly affects your mood and energy levels for the day :”) sleep more if you can!

🌸 Find a stress-relieving hobby— be it yoga, pilates, singing, dancing or anything, find something to do that helps you to relieve stress 💗 #MyGoTo hobby would definitely be karaoke lmao I can sing for 4 hours straight 😂

All in all, don’t get too stressed out— especially at work because work is endless!!! And don’t do things for people or your company at the expense of your own mental health. YOU COME FIRST!!! 🥹💗
