Tennis lessons are important, here’s why 🎾👸

I’m learning tennis as I wanted to pick up a new hobby! I always admired the old aunties that played tennis together and maybe that’d be me in the future.

I didn’t think I would need tennis lessons and I initially thought I could pick it up just by playing with my friends like I did with badminton. God no. I realised that after going for lessons 🤣 the techniques for tennis is harder to grasp than badminton since you do not just “smack” the ball.

I begun group lessons with Star Tennis (@/startennis.sg on Instagram). It was great having a coach that paid attention to what I was doing right/wrong so I could correct them right away! It would’ve been hard if I did it with a friend. Plus, I really appreciated the drills that allowed me to train my muscle memory to remember the movements. Some classes were more technical and others as I improved involved rallying (ball goes back and forth between two players).

What I really liked were classes where I could practise with tools/machines which I wouldn’t be able to get by myself.

Group lessons also allowed me to meet new people, so that’s great! The lessons were also in the evenings on the weekdays so I could go after work.
