hey girlies! this is gna be a long one but….

i’m not sure if anyone went through the same thing as me but… do u feel like u’re gymming a lot / for a long time but there’s no results? now, this solution may not be for everyone, but i tried cross training— and now, my body feels a LOT more comfortable, and i’m seeing better results physique AND strength-wise. 💪

while i think going to the gym consistently has grown my glutes (thank u hip thrusts + bss), i still felt unsatisfied with my overall physique. i just felt like i was putting my body through a rigid routine, and it was NOT lovin it. i was super tired too & sometimes dragging myself to the gym 4 times a week was so hard 🥲 i lost motivation, basically.

so i thought, u know what, let’s switch it 🆙 LOL but i didn’t want to sign up for pilates classes because i was (1) intimidated and (2) i thought i wouldn’t like it that much. so i tried mat pilates at home and boy was i humbled…. 😶‍🌫️😰 my legs were shaking so bad and it dawned on me that hey i’ve been training myself so much in the gym and my body isn’t actually functionally strong (idk if that phrase is right). so i replaced some gym days with mat pilates at home! and i felt less lethargic, tbh, but idk if that’s just me. and its FREE 😍💸💸

i also incorporated some glute movements from my mat pilates workouts at the end of my leg days, to (torture myself and) get the extra burn! 🔥

next, i signed up for pole dance classes at studio albatross! 💃👠 i did pole dance a few years ago and stopped because of $$$ but since i’m interning now i can afford signing up for lessons 😍 it’s $270/8 weeks of classes before student discount ~ this is one of my best decisions because i LOVE pole dancing and it’s just an unconventional workout and less structured compared to gym and pilates 🧘‍♀️ so i can add a little spunk to my fitness journey lollll ⚡️💥 i do it twice a week!

pole dance takes a lot of core + back + arms +…. everything….. 😪🤕🫨🫣 so it’s a really great way for me to work out especially because i love dance too!

finally, cardio…. i told myself it’s time to get toned lol eat so much and never burn anything fatty 👹 but since running is boring to me + im bad at it, i opted for incline walk and skipping!! woohoo

so i do leg days 1-2 times a week, one upper body day in the gym if i can, pole dance twice a week, and cardio at least twice a week as well. i know it seems like a lot more than just gymming, but my body feels SOOO much more comfortable, stronger & i feel like my physique’s improving overall :) i’m a lot more motivated too because i don’t dread anything. it’s important to LISTEN TO UR BODY!!!

do what feels right, and do what you love. u dont have to follow people’s fitness routines, u can create your own! 🤩✨

if u’re curious: currently, im spending 95/month for the gym, around 100/month for pole dance + pole practice sessions, and NOTHING for mat pilates because youtube videos are free 😎

anyway i hope this was insightful to read ~ and if u’re going through the fitness slump then maybe it’s time to switch things up! try new things, dont be scared and maybe your body will love it. ❤️
